About ERP

Everything you need to know about ERP

What is the objective of the Platform?

The European Recycling Platform, ERP, is a cooperation between companies concerned by the WEEE-directive. The cooperation was established as these companies want to make sure that they can fulfill the requirements the WEEE-directive puts on them, in an ecologically efficient as well as a competitive way.

Why have these four companies chosen to work together?

P&G, Electrolux, HP and Sony have long participated in various business and industry associations together. The four companies also have  a common view on key aspects of recycling electrical and electronic equipment.  Notably, the importance of individual producer responsibility, the need for competition in the WEEE services market and a desire for market-based structures that reward improved 'design for recycling'.

What cost savings (per company or overall) do you expect?

Based on the experience of its operations in Austria, Ireland and Germany, ERP delivers always the best price for the WEEE compliance service. ERP has initiated competition between compliance schemes in these countries which has moved the overall WEEE take back cost significantly down. However, a detailed assessment of savings per company can only be done based on a company's detailed products portfolio.

Which products will be covered by the platform?

The ERP is designed as a horizontal compliance scheme covering all WEEE categories and covers bulbs/lamps in some countries where our customers and / or legislation requires ERP to do so. ERP has recently started its battery waste take-back operations.
